Nationwide, estimates suggest there are between 60 to 100 million feral cats, posing significant challenges to both our ecosystems and animal welfare organizations. As cherished members of our families, cats hold a special place in our hearts. However, as an invasive species, they can disrupt local ecosystems, decimating bird populations and spreading disease. The overpopulation strains the available resources, with hundreds, if not thousands, of kittens born annually. With many facing health challenges from the outset. It's imperative that as a community, we unite to implement programs aimed at sterilizing untamable felines to mitigate this overpopulation crisis.
Another Chance Animal Rescue’s commitment extends beyond finding forever homes for pets; we're dedicated to providing essential veterinary care to those in need within our community. Collaborating with the Harnett Foundation, we've crafted a program aimed at addressing the issue of feral cats in Mercer County through trap, neuter/spay, and release initiatives.
Molly's Memorial, named in honor of a beloved cat who found a loving home after being abandoned at just 5 weeks old, represents our ongoing efforts to extend assistance to as many cats as possible, regardless of their demeanor.
For those seeking assistance with Trap-Neuter/Spay-Release (TNR) efforts in their area, please email anotherchanceanimalrescue24@gmail.com for an application. This program is only available to Mercer County Residents. Approval for TNR assistance requires applicants to be capable of trapping and transporting cats.
We partner with Happy Tales Veterinary Hospital for our TNR program, a facility that integrates feral cats into their surgery schedule. Following surgery, we prefer to monitor cats for at least 24 hours to ensure their recovery. Rest assured, during their stay, cats receive proper care and attention, including food, water, and cleanliness. A member of the Happy Tales team will coordinate pickup arrangements with you.
